For this exclusive collaboration, chocolatera Ashley Ugarte, founder of Austin-based Hijita, invites us to experience flavors and stories of her cultural traditions. She hand-crafts two decadent, dairy-free single-origin Truffle-Bars filled with textural, house-made praliné. Both of these considerable confections — six pieces each — are encased in our nutty Agua Escondida, Mexico chocolate, and one is infused with micro-batch Mexican spices.
Ashley attributes her vision for this Collection, and for Hijita, to the strong matriarchs in her life. As she creates confections to honor her family’s Mexican-American heritage, she brings a personal touch, shaping flavor legacy for future generations to enjoy. To help bring her Truffle-Bar concept to life, we produced an extra-limited batch of the first chocolate we’ve ever crafted from Mexican cocoa beans: 70% Agua Escondida, Mexico. Its complex, roasty notes of pecan, dark chocolate, and oak offer a fitting foundation for a Collection celebrating family and tradition.
